Sisters Of The Road has been an essential part of the Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood since 1979. Offering a space to build community, empower ourselves, learn from one another, dine with dignity and organize for justice and human rights for all, Monica has served as the Director since 2001. She is also the national Co-Chair of The Assembly to End Poverty and a board member of the Western Regional Advocacy Project. In 2009 she won the “Extraordinary Portland Executive Director of the Year” award and Sisters was named one of the Top 100 non-profits to work for based on employee input in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
